Topimec 0.5% Pour-On for Cattle (Ivermectin)

Topimec 0.5% Pour-On for Cattle is an externally applied wormer containing ivermectin 5 mg/ml, used for the treatment and control of a wide range of internal and external parasites in beef and non-lactating dairy cattle.

Topimec treats gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, eyeworms, warbles, mange mites and sucking and biting lice. Applied along the animal's back, it provides a convenient alternative to oral dosing or injections, helping farmers manage parasite burdens and protect cattle health and performance.

Topimec also provides persistent activity against certain parasites for up to 28 days after treatment, depending on the parasite species and the conditions specified in the product data sheet. Available in 2.5L and 5L containers.

Important: Do not use in non-lactating dairy cows, including pregnant dairy heifers, within 60 days prior to calving. Observe the 28-day meat and offal withdrawal period.

What Does Topimec Treat?

Topimec treats a range of internal and external parasites that can affect cattle health, growth and performance. Its active ingredient, ivermectin, acts against susceptible parasites, including the following species listed in the official product data sheet.

Topimec Dosage for Cattle

Recommended Dose: 1 ml per 10 kg bodyweight, equivalent to 500 micrograms ivermectin per kg bodyweight.

Topimec is administered as a single topical treatment along the midline of the back, in a narrow strip extending from the withers to the tailhead.

Important: Determine bodyweight as accurately as possible and check dosing equipment before use. Group cattle by bodyweight when treating collectively to avoid underdosing or overdosing.

Cattle - Dose and Bottle Coverage

Bottle Coverage: The 2.5L and 5L columns show the number of complete doses available at each bodyweight, calculated by dividing the bottle volume by the required dose and rounding down to whole doses. Figures assume no product wastage.

Administration Instructions

• External Use Only: Apply directly to the skin along the midline of the back, from the withers to the tailhead.
• Single Application: Administer the recommended dose of 1 ml per 10 kg bodyweight.
• Accurate Bodyweight: Weigh cattle or estimate bodyweight as accurately as possible before treatment.
• Correct Equipment: Use suitable, calibrated pour-on dosing equipment.
• Dry Cattle: Do not treat cattle when their hair or hide is wet.
• Rainfall: Avoid treatment when rain is expected, as rain within two hours of application may reduce efficacy.
• Application Area: Do not apply to skin affected by mange scabs, lesions, mud or manure.
• Repeat Treatments: Allow at least 28 days between treatments.
• Warble Treatment: Follow veterinary advice on treatment timing to reduce the risk of reactions associated with dying warble larvae.

Important Safety Information

• Environmental Protection: Ivermectin is extremely dangerous to fish and aquatic organisms and is toxic to dung insects.
• Watercourse Restriction: Treated cattle must not have direct access to ponds, streams or ditches for 14 days after treatment.

Gastrointestinal Roundworms (Gutworms)

Lungworms
